Conservative dentistry that lasts

Conservative dentistry deals with the treatment of tooth decay. Minor filling are performed directly in the mouth or substantially damaged, teeth are replaced by inlays. These inlays are composite or ceramic fillings made on request by a trusted laboratory with the help of the imprint taken in the dental clinic. In a second session, those inlays are cemented on the tooth. This way, the dentist can restore the perfect functionality of a tooth without resorting to a fixed prosthesis (capsule). Both Dr. Anna Mazzaglia and Dr. Riccardo Mannoni use photo-curing composite materials for filling the teeth.

Reconstruction finished. The surgery required a single session lasting 1 hour.

The traditional method involves 5 sessions for devitalising, pinning and capping the tooth.

Bad breath can have different causes, some attributable to dental problems. Bad breath is usually most obvious to the people around the affected person, who often does not realize the problem that afflicts them.

The general causes can be many, including stomach discomfort, use of drugs, or systemic diseases.

Possible dental causes are often linked to the presence of tartar, periodontal pockets, or large carious lesions.

It is very important to visit your GP first to rule out the general causes.

If this is the case, the dentist's task is to identify the dental cause of halitosis. The removal of tartar, treatment of gum disease and caries removal are only the first step, because it is also important that the patient follows up with proper oral hygiene using a toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss.

X-rays & intraoral camera

For accurate diagnosis and proper treatment planning, a dentist needs the help of x-rays that show what's under a tooth but invisible to the naked eye: the roots, bony fragments, including teeth, bone granulomas, etc. In Dr. Anna Mazzaglia's and Dr. Riccardo Mannoni's dental practice, conventional x-rays scans are available, but to reach a correct diagnosis, they also use RVG digital x-rays. RVG digital x-ray examination allows a dentist to process images and store them on a computer. Our software allows us to process both for small intraoral radiographs, as well as panoramic views:

  • to evaluate the osteodensitometry
  • to measure the thickness of the bone for implants
  • to vary the contrast and brightness of the image,
  • to see the image in relief
  • to change the colours of the image in order to identify temporomandibular joint problems
  • to invert the image from positive to negative

All this helps us not only in the diagnosis but also to show to the patient the inside of their mouth on a monitor. With the latest-generation high-definition intraoral camera, we can take photos of your teeth, smile, and face and collect all the information needed at the beginning of each clinical case. These shots can be sent via e-mail to the dental laboratory to provide photographic references that describe the aesthetic features of your teeth. For example, consider a now-toothless patient who wants a treatment that will bring back the same smile of their earlier years. One photo can provide all the details that the dental technicians need recreate that lost smile.

Radiograph done with RVG. This technique allows you to have great clarity of images. Moreover, thanks to the digital technology it is possible to perform: the densitometric analysis of the 'bone, the analysis in 3D (three dimensions) of the tooth, the measurements of the length of the canals of the teeth and the depth of the nerves.
